Washington agriculture is strong and the state produces more than 300 different ag products. The state leads the nation in apple production, accounting for over 70 percent of all apples in the U.S. In Washington alone, apples make up 20 percent of the state’s total cash receipts. With the average orchard size being about 100 acres, it’s families just like yours who are at the heart of Washington’s apple-growing community. There are 1,260 apple growers in Washington, and for them, growing apples isn’t a job. It’s a way of life.
