Our 10 Core Values

Don't be a *Hippo!

If you don't follow these guidelines, you just might be a *Hypocrite!

1.    If you want to support and preserve Washington state family farms and businesses, yet buy food and everything else from China or Southeast Asia, you might be a “hippo” or manipulated by corporate exploitation.

2.    If you are committed to reducing our carbon footprint but you buy most of your food and products from Mexico, Viet Nam or China, you might be “hippo” or manipulated by corporate exploitation.

3.    If you believe food workers, farm workers and all employees in Washington state should earn at least $15 an hour plus overtime, yet you buy food and products from countries that barely pay starvation wages to their workers, you might be a “hippo”.

4.    If you think Washington workers should earn “living wages” to afford to take care of their families yet buy your food and products from countries where workers are exploited and are paid little or substandard wages, you might be a “hippo”.

5.    If you oppose “sweat shop” type working factories and forced child labor, along with substandard working conditions and starvation wages, yet you buy food and products where this occurs in places like China, Cambodia or Viet Nam, you might be a “hippo”.

6.    If you believe in the ethical, humane and responsible practices for raising livestock, poultry, and fish, yet buy products and food from countries that have no regard for the proper treatment of any animals whatsoever, you might be a “hippo”.

7.    If you believe farmers should grow their crops with efficiently used clean water, yet buy food products from countries the water quality is questionable at best, you might be “hippo” or easily fooled.

8.    If you believe all food grown in Washington state should be inspected to be safe, yet you buy products imported to the U.S. from other countries where only 3-5 percent of their food is inspected, you might be a “hippo” or manipulated by corporate exploitation.

9.    If you believe the waters in Washington state should be clean and safe to produce the quality shellfish and seafood we love, yet buy these types of products from countries where infectious sewage floods their waters, you might be a “hippo”.

10.    If you believe that the pesticides and herbicides determined to be harmful on farm products and banned decades ago was a good thing, yet you still buy products from countries that continue to use these products, you might be a “hippo”, or manipulated by corporate exploitation!
